Bridal Expo Mayhem

Well folks its said and done, thank goodness. The Las Vegas Bridal Expo at Mandalay Bay was this last Sunday and I am pretty sure it was the longest busiest Sunday that has ever happened. Although I've yet to hear in the news that it did in fact last longer than its allotted 24 hours. Planning for the Expo was so unlike us. A few days prior to all we knew was that we were hauling in our real grass (because we insist that AstroTurf just is not good enough for us) and that was about all we knew. We started with the idea of doing an awesome black and white linen and accenting it with monochromatic floral. Poor Mary Anne Riley from Wildflower Linen received about 500 phone calls from us on Thursday trying to arrange to get things overnighted to us from L.A. Well about an hour before the linens arrived we had tossed that idea out of the window and decided to use our vintage door for inspiration on a "Shabby Chic" vibe for the booth. Maybe it was because it was Friday and the show was Sunday or because this idea was very us or possibly because we were resorting back to our original thoughts we ran with it. Saturday was spent running all over trying to get our flowers together, making multiple trips to Mandalay Bay, and hours in the studio creating masterpieces. Last minute planning seemed to pay off well for us.

We felt like we had a pretty steady flow of people through the booth all day and completely ran out of business cards and handouts about 2:00. We had ordered a ton of different kinds of handouts from VistaPrint and due to some storm they didn't arrive until the day AFTER the show, talk about a day late and a dollar short. Huge thanks to Artistic Imaging, Kris Thompson and Office Depot for helping us put something together last minute.

These 3 pieces seemed to be pretty popular. Thank goodness because we had to import special bonding agents from the alps of Switzerland to achieve this look... Ok well not really but we can't give away our secrets.

You know you've made it big time when models like this beauty will take pictures with your product. I don't think I could love this picture anymore than I do.

Another big thank you to Adam Frazier from Artistic Imaging for taking pictures of our booth and providing us with a beautiful print to display.

Kaylie and Ben

October was a busy month for the ladies at Weeds Floral. During the mayhem we were so fortunate to have the wedding of Kaylie and Ben at their home in Lake Las Vegas. I love couples who truly find ways to make their wedding creative and individual. While looking for a venue the couple decided to have the ceremony on the greens of Reflection Bay Golf Course which had recently closed and the reception in the "ally" behind their home. A little help from 10 of Kalyie's girls and the place was the perfect setting for a Tuscan Bistro vibe party. This couple were truly a pleasure to get to work with.

To get to the ceremony site all of the guests had to walk past the pool so we accented the pool with lily pads and some floating candles.

Kaylie carried a custom bridal bouquet of red and ivory roses, light blue belladona, bells of Ireland, red mini callas, lady slipper orchids, accented with a few monkey tails.

The Bride looked amazing in the Alvina Valenta dress she purchased from us right before the big change from Something Blue Dress House to Weeds.

It's true folks this perfect little outdoor Tuscan Bistro is actually where all of the garages for the town homes where Kaylie and Ben live, complete with cobblestone.

Thank you Kaylie and Ben for letting us be a little part of your big day. You both are wonderful people and we are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to have gotten to know you.

A Lovely Lady From Dublin

January 20th, 2009 I received my first email from an excited bride all the way from Dublin. She was looking forward to her fall wedding at the Four Seasons and was trying to figure out exactly what she wanted to do with the "look" of her event. After countless emails back and fourth discussing vibrant colors and ruffly, fluffy blooms we were finally able to come up with a game plan sure to please the fun group of party goers from all over the world. The bride even provided Mexican Wrestling Masks for the photo booth and had Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes in place of a traditional wedding cake.

The wedding quickly came and went. Fast forward 2 months and this morning we received an email from the bride thanking us. "The job you did was phenomenal. Honestly, my mind was blown. I was so indecisive and changed my mind so many times during the planning. And I had so many ideas, I just didn't even expect it to all come together so perfectly, but the look you came up with, the colors, the types of flowers, the arrangements - wow. I just don't even know what to say about it all! I get emotional! I wish I could have frozen them all and taken them home with me to keep forever. (I do have a few blooms pressed into picture frames!)" Feedback like this makes truly is heart warming.

Thank you Susie for making my day and for being such a wonderful person to work with. You were truly a pleasure and looked stunning on your wedding day.

Happy New Year.

We could not be any more excited for 2010 to be here. This year is going to be filled with amazing weddings, great friends and exciting projects! One resolution on the list to start blogging again!! So we will be trying to get caught up on weddings and projects that have gone un blogged and be filing up the pages with great tips, floral advice and amazing pictures.

Here are a few pictures from our Studio Warming Party to get started on the catching up. We are so thankful to everyone who came out to see our new studio and to support us. There are so many wonderful people in our lives that it was appropriate to throw this party the Monday before Thanksgiving.
